The 10th Call of Duty is right around the corner, releasing on a ton of platforms. Infinity Ward is promising to bring a new level of detail, new gameplay, new characters and a new plot.
Here are a few things Infinity Ward is doing differently:
1. Man's Best Friend
Never before seen this way in CoD before is having a four-legged companion, Riley the dog. You will have the ability to control Riley in certain parts of the game. Riley can be fierce when needed or stealthy when needed. Riley has vibrating sensors on his neck that let him know which way to go when your controlling him.
2. Dynamic Maps
This is something we got more of in Battlefield 3 and now it's making its way to Call of Duty and it seems as though IW is taking it a step further than its competitors DICE and EA.
The multiplayer maps that have been shown so far have buildings falling and players fighting beneath them. For Call of Duty, it's seems like the dynamic maps are gonna be a step forward for them. Hopefully the dynamic maps will keep things more interesting throughout gameplay and hopefully keep the players interested and coming back for more while tryin to reduce the "Arena Combat" feel that Call of Duty sadly has.
3. Improved A.I.
Infinity Ward is bringing a new and improved A.I. For Ghosts. This means smarter and better allies but it also mean deadlier enemies. One of the things I hate the most in the story mode is when all your squad members do is yell at you so hopefully with the improved A.I. they will actually help you throughout the game. The new A.I. is going to be interesting to see how the enemies work together to stop you and how the scenery reacts
4. Same Engine With Significant Improvements
Infinity Ward is using a next-gen gaming engine. With this comes the perks of better coding and advanced features. They are promising a solid 60 FPS so hopefully this will still be for the PS3 and 360.
Even though its something the PC players have had for quite some time now, it's good to finally have it on consoles as well. This should make everything run smoother and add some extra eye-candy to the game
5. The Underdog
Those of you that are familiar with he CoD campaigns are probably used to playing as the "Top-Dog" like the United States, Great Britain, and some Russians. Now we will be playing on the side who is getting kicked while we're down and it's your job as the player to reach the top and help return the United States back to its former glory.
6. Leaning Out of Cover
Leaning is a feature that players have been waiting for. Leaning has been a feature for PC players in the past but this will be the first time seen on consoles. The ability to lean out from corners definitely changes the tactical options when in combat. A feature that could result in higher scorestreaks, longer lives, and higher scores.
7. Custom Characters
Infinity Ward is giving players a little extra in multiplayer. IW has giving us the ability to customize your character almost from head to toe. There are a lot of different things that can be customized. We first saw this in the First Black Ops which allowed you to change the skin color, uniform, and facial paint of your character but IW is taking it waaaayyy further than that.
8. Players Can Now Slide
Call of Duty has always been a fast paced game, even when it was the WWII era of the game. It's kind of surprising that the ability to slide is just now coming in to CoD. It seems like sliding would've been thought of in the beginning but obviously not. I feel that sliding will really change CQB for the better and make it a little more fast paced. Sliding combined with leaning will make for some great gameplay.
9. Second Screen
Infinity Ward is moving on to second screen support and runnig a few parts of the game on peripheral devices. There hasn't been much detail about second screen and about what platforms it's going to support but i feel it will be a good treat from IW.
10. Free Map - Free Fall
Players who have pre ordered Call of Duty Ghosts will be receiving a free map called Free Fall. This map takes place in a partially collapsed skyscraper that is hundredes of feet above the ground. What were once windows are now glass floors ready to shatter at any point. This map is a great way to show off the Dynamic Map elements. As the building collapses around you, it creates/destroys pathways therefore changing the way the map is being played throughout the match.
